Celebrating 40 YEARS of SHORIN KEMPO

40 year anniversary

This year is the 40th year of Shorin Kempo . which started way back around 1977 in Myers Park, central Auckland.

Sifu Kancho would roller blade from south Auckland take the classes then roller blade home, we had no building so we just trained out in the elements.

From there the school just grew and grew to what it is today, part of one of the largest martial arts organisations in the world, if not the biggest, The WKO

Back in the day or trainings were always hard, we always gave 110% with everything we ever did.

Then there was the Uschi deschi of Shorin Kempo , now these were truly a different breed of martial artist. Full immersion training to become some of the Elite today of Shorin Kempo . Shihan Charlie, of Shorin Kempo Kaikan NZ is one of those students.

We will be celebrating this great time with a gathering of people from all over the world, both past and present from Shorin Kempo even some of the very first Uschi deschi from NZ, Shihan Charlie will also be there to represent NZ. This will be held in Pattaya, Thailand along with a 10 year anniversary of the WKO with a full contact tournament with only the best fighting from countries all over the world.

We at Shorin Kempo NZ may have one of our students fighting in this tournament , Paris Tainui, who is on the final road to his Blackbelt Grading in Feb, in Pattaya.
